The Veterinarians from the State of Goa formed the professional association in the name THE GOA VETERINARY ASSOCIATION in the year 1993 to function as state body representing the profession and the required constitution was framed under chairmanship of Dr. H.K. Malaviya and assisted by Dr. V.J. Thomas and Dr. Rajaram Naik.

The purpose of this association was well defined as under:

To create an spirit de crops among the members of the veterinary professionals in the state of Goa.
To promote the advancement of veterinary science in all its aspects.
To uphold the dignity and honour of the profession and to safeguard its rights and interests.
To initiate, encourage and support veterinary research.
To publish veterinary journals, reports and treatises.
To function as state body representing the profession.
To advice and arbitrate in matters relating to education, employment and working conditions for members of the veterinary profession, even in the court of law.
To purchase or otherwise acquire any property or estate capable of being used for any of the purpose of the Association and solicit gifts, donation, contribution etc.
To co-operate with other state professional Association and with National and International veterinary societies or Association and to organize conferences, conventions, seminars and symposia and to perform such other functions as are incidental and conducive to the functions or attainments of the objects of the Association.

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of THE GOA VETERINARY ASSOCIATION was decided to meet every third month and THE GENERAL BODY of the ASSOCIATION will meet twice in a year. The quorum for the General body meeting shall be 50% of the enrolled members and for Executive committee meeting 2/3^rd of the elected members.

The meeting for electing the new EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE will be held in the month of November of the second year term of THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE and the new elected EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE shall take charge by the First week of January next year.

The membership of THE GOA VETERINARY ASSOCIATION is open to any individual who possesses a recognized degree in veterinary science and residing in the State of GOA.
